Flumie or Flumi Gong Specialized Friction Mallet
Flumie or Flumi Gong Specialized Friction Mallet
Description
Flumi Gong Specialised Friction Mallet
Unlock a deeper, richer voice from your gong with the Flumi Gong Specialised Friction Mallet.
Designed specifically for friction playing, the Flumi allows you to create long, sustained tones, deep resonances and rich layers of harmonics that are very different from the sounds produced by striking a gong. By gently drawing the friction head across the surface of the gong, the instrument gradually begins to vibrate and “sing”, opening up a wonderfully expressive range of sounds.
Ideal for gong baths, sound meditation, sound healing, therapeutic work and personal gong practice, the Flumi gives you another way to explore the full sonic potential of your gong.
Why use a Flumi?
- Creates sustained, evolving tones through friction rather than impact.
- Brings out rich harmonics and resonances that can be difficult to achieve with a conventional mallet.
- Excellent for creating gentle soundscapes during meditation and gong baths.
- Allows greater control and subtlety, making it possible to gradually build and shape the sound.
- A wonderful tool for experienced gong practitioners and those exploring friction playing for the first time.
The key to playing is a gentle, controlled movement across the gong's surface. Take your time and experiment with different areas of the gong, pressure and speed—small changes can produce surprisingly different tonal responses.
A beautiful addition to any gong player's toolkit, the Flumi opens the door to a whole new dimension of gong sound.
Please note: friction mallets require a gentle technique. Always follow the care and playing guidance appropriate to your particular gong.
