Set of 3 Gong Friction Mallets 51mm, 41mm and 28mm

Set of 3 Gong Friction Mallets – 51mm, 41mm & 28mm

Explore a wider range of tones and textures with this set of three Gong Friction Mallets, featuring 51mm, 41mm and 28mm heads. Having three different sizes gives you greater control over the character, intensity and tonal response of your gong.

Friction mallets are played by gently drawing the head across the surface of the gong rather than striking it, encouraging the gong to sing with long, sustained and evolving tones. Different head sizes can help you explore everything from deeper, fuller resonances to lighter, brighter and more delicate harmonics.

Three Sizes – One Complete Sound Palette

• 51mm – The largest mallet, ideal for fuller, deeper and more powerful resonances.
• 41mm – A versatile medium size for balanced tones and expressive sound development.
• 28mm – The smallest mallet, perfect for delicate accents, finer harmonics and more focused tonal effects.

Together, the three mallets allow you to experiment with different areas of the gong, pressure and movement to discover new sounds and create more varied gong soundscapes. Using friction mallets of different sizes is a popular way to explore a gong's broader tonal range.

Ideal for Sound Healing & Gong Baths

This versatile set is particularly useful for gong baths, sound meditation, sound journeys, sound healing and intuitive gong playing. The sustained nature of friction playing makes it possible to introduce gentle, continuous tones and atmospheric transitions into a session.

A versatile three-piece friction mallet set for gong players who want to explore deeper resonance, subtle harmonics and the full expressive potential of their instrument.
